Fair
Play Code of Conduct for Coaches
All items are reprinted
from the CHA Coach Level and Hockey Trainers Safety Program manuals
-
I will be reasonable
when scheduling games and practices, remembering that players have other
interests and obligations.
-
I will teach my players
to play fairly and to respect the rules, officials and opponents.
-
I will ensure that all
players get equal instruction, support, and playing time.
-
I will not ridicule or
yell at my players for making mistakes or for performing poorly. I will remember that players play to have fun and must be
encouraged to have confidence in themselves.
-
I will make sure that
equipment and facilities are safe and match the players' ages and abilities.
-
I will remember that
participants need a coach they can respect.
I will be generous with praise and set a good example.
-
I will obtain proper
training and continue to upgrade my coaching skills.
-
I will work in Cupertino
with officials for the benefit of the game.
-
I will pay all fees on a timely basis and
forfeit any money held by the hockey committee if I fail to do so.

Fair Play Code of Conduct
For
Parents
-
I will make scheduled
team payments on or before the due dates.
-
I will volunteer for one
or more of the team positions and do my best to fulfill my obligations.
I will also volunteer for the mandatory canteen duty and in failing
to do so I will be subject to forfeit my $40.00 refundable fee and in
failing to pay the penalty the fees will be added to my registration for the
following year.
-
I will attend parents
meetings.
-
I will take my
son/daughter to practice and games on time and respect team policy. No one
likes to be the last one in the dressing room and rushed to get dressed.
-
I will communicate
concerns about coaching matters with the parent representative.
-
For atoms and older
teams (females), only moms in dressing room unless players are fully
dressed. If dad needs to tie
skates, find a suitable location outside the dressing room.
-
If I fail to attend practice(s) my child is subject to limited ice time
during a game on the discretion of the coach

-
I will remember that my
son/daughter plays hockey for her enjoyment, not for mine.
-
I will encourage my
son/daughter to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting
to hostility or violence.
-
I will teach my
son/daughter that doing one's best is as important as winning, so that my
child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.
-
I will make my
son/daughter feel like a winner every time by offering praise for competing
fairly and trying hard.
-
I will never ridicule or
yell at my daughter for making a mistake or losing a game.
-
I will remember that
children learn best by example. I will applaud good plays/performances by
both my child's team and their opponents.
-
I will never question
the officials' judgment or honesty in public.
-
I will support all
efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children's hockey games.

Fair
Play Code of Conduct For Players
(parents
for a child of tender years)
-
I will attend all
scheduled games and practices if I am healthy.
Hockey is a team sport and line drills are worthless if a member of a
line is absent.
-
I will phone one of the
coaches if unable to attend a game or practice.
-
I will check my
equipment bag and make sure I have all my equipment and that my skates are
sharp.
-
I will arrive for all
games and practices on time as per team policy. This means I should be fully
dressed and ready to skate at least 15 minutes before the start of a game or
practice. Each team and
coach will establish their own readiness policy.
-
I will bring my own
water bottle to games and practices. Sharing is not hygienic and may spread
cold, flues, and other contagious viruses like mononucleosis.
I will not ask or take without asking my team mates water bottle and jeopardize
their health and mine.

The
following items are reprinted from the CHA Coach Level and Hockey Trainers
Safety Program manuals.
-
I will play hockey
because I want to, not just because others or coaches want me to.
-
I will play by the rules
of hockey, and in the spirit of the game.
-
I will control my temper
- fighting and "mouthing off" can spoil the activity for
everybody.
-
I will respect my
opponents.
-
I will do my best to be
a true team player.
-
I will remember that
winning isn't everything - that having fun, improving skills, making friends
and doing my best are also important.
-
I will acknowledge all
good plays/performances - those of my team and of my opponents.
-
I will remember that coaches and officials are there
to help me. I will accept their decisions and show them respect.
