I would like to the take the time to introduce myself.  My name is Guy Poirier and I am

the New Winakwa Soccer Convenor.  As your Soccer Convenor my job is to take care of

both the Indoor and Outdoor U9 to U18 Boys and Girls Recreational Soccer Teams for our

community.  I was voted into this position at the Annual General Meeting in September 2011

and I am a new member of the Board itself.  My family and I have been living in Windsor Park

since 2005 and both my children play both indoor and outdoor soccer.  For the past 2-3 years

I’ve been lucky enough to have the time and opportunity to coach both my kids teams (my

son in the indoor season and daughter in the spring/summer season).  This will be something

that I will continue to do but I look forward to the new challenges being the Soccer Convenor

will bring.  I look forward to meeting all the parents, volunteers, and of course most

importantly, our soccer players themselves.

Our 2011 outdoor season was a great success with 10 teams playing out of Winakwa.

A special thank you needs to go out to all the coaches, managers and all the parents who take

time out of your busy lives to bring/watch and cheer on your children at their soccer practices,

games, tournaments and events.  Without your support we would not have such a successful

Soccer Season.

Congratulations to 3 teams that won championships for our Winakwa Community Club.

season.  With our Home Field being at the U of M Soccer Complex.  We have a U9B , U15G and

U18B teams.  If you are interested in coming out to cheer any of these teams on or are just

interested in seeing how much fun and different indoor soccer is you can find the team

schedules on the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association link below. Good luck and have a

great season!!!

News:

The previous soccer Convenor Keith Vallee has stepped down.  With the new arrival of his

precious twins this September, Keith needed more time to devote to his growing family.

Congratulations Keith.  We wish you well and thank you for the time that you put into

being the Soccer Convenor.

Feb. 16 - 20, 2012 is the Golden Boy Tournament.
